"My wife and I have had John mill on our property countless times. He is a well organised, punctual person who will get the most out of a log as possible. John is a friendly man always up to a realistic challenge.

What ever the job may be John can get it done in an orderly manner without sacrificing his quality workmanship.

Thanks John for all your hard work, I looking forward to seeing you again on our property."

"I am very happy with the results of BGC milling four sections of a large eucalyptus blakelyi (Blakely's Red Gum) on a residential block in Canberra. The main trunk of this tree was 3.7 m long with a maximum diameter of 1.0 m at the base. Both sawing and slabbing were used to give approximately 3 cubic metres of dimensioned timber over a period of two days.

Having briefly assisted in the use of a Lucas Mill several years ago, I was fully aware of the mill's capabilities, but I was most impressed with the BGC operator's use of the mill.  His skill in setting up a log, either straight or forked, and in determining what sections to cut from a given part of a log resulted in good timber recovery and some very nice pieces of sawn timber.

I was very fortunate to observe BGC using a Lucas Mill to saw up a large blackbutt  in suburban Gordon on Sydney's North Shore. The main trunk of this tree was 1.2 m in diameter at the base and about 6 m long.  Once again, the operator demonstrated his skills in setting up and sawing large logs. In this case the operator was ever mindful of the quota of board required and ensured that an accurate tally of cut board was kept.

If even considering having a log milled, it is strongly recommended that it be done.  By having a log milled it will conserve valuable timber rather than having it cut up for firewood, or worse still, chipped.  If it's firewood you're after, there will be plenty of offcuts for that even when a log is milled.

It is a great joy to see a log reduced to usable sections of timber, regardless of whether that timber is for your own use or that of others. Any unwanted sawn timber can be sold, donated to a local school, woodworking group or Mens' Shed or traded as part of the cutting fee.

I have no hesitation in recommending the services of BGC to mill logs on site.  Their Lucas Mill is highly portable and versatile and can be set up around a large log in a relatively small space."
